They train all infantry men together in fort benning for basic training for 22 weeks. Then everyone else train together for 10 weeks. Then we all go off to AIT ( advanced individual training) it depends on your job how long you train.

  17. LMW

To explain OSUT, it means certain jobs complete their basic training (10 weeks) and their AIT training all in one cycle back to back. I was a 12Bravo combat engineer and as soon as I finished basic training I started combat engineer training like the next day. It varies on which job you pick. Great videos man 🇺🇸

Normal Basic time is 8 weeks. I believe they shortened it to 7 or 7 1/2 weeks due to Covid-19. From what I see it seems like they gave a taste of what basic is and showed their AIT training, possibly. I could be wrong myself lol

  25. Evravon

    پیش 3 ماه

It's insane how different the army is these days. Back when I joined in 2006, the Drill Sergeants would gang up on you (which is what an actual shark attack is, not whatever they were doing at the beginning of the video), and they'd get so close to you, their brown rounds would be smashing into your face. Spit flying everywhere. And then they'd punish the entire platoon for one person's mistake. I went to OSUT at Ft. Leonard Wood. I think it was like 19 weeks long total. Maybe 20 weeks. Don't remember. We weren't allowed to eat the "sweet" parts of our MREs. We had to throw them away as soon as we opened them up. And may whatever god you believe in help you if you were the unlucky one who got the vegetarian breakfast omelet MRE. Looked and tasted like vomit.

If you’re an 11B, you go to Basic training and infantry training back to back. It’s basically one course. When we finished the basic training course, the drill sergeants sarcastically clapped for us one morning and said “congrats, you just graduated from Basic Training. The bad news: welcome to the first day of the Infantry Course.” We even kept the same drill sergeants. The combined courses of Basic and Infantry AIT is called OSUT. And it sucks because it’s so long.

  33. Jacob Reed

Yeah, they mistitled the video. This video covered US Army Infantry One Station Unit Training (OSUT.) For most MOS' in the Army, a trainee will go to Basic Training for 11 weeks (Ft Jackson, Ft Leonard Wood, Ft Benning, etc.) and then proceed on to a different post for their Advance Initial Training (MOS training.) OSUT, which is primarily for combat MOS', basically wraps both Basic Training and AIT into one cycle. So for Infantry OSUT, Trainees will show up to Ft Benning, do reception for 2 weeks, then the Basic Training portion for 11 weeks or so, have a family weekend pass, and then go straight into the MOS (Infantry) specific training.

    پیش 4 ماه

MY question is why they combined AIT and basic? Basic is just one half there's like 200 gazillion MOS's so this was a bit odd. But ohhhh did the Bootcamp bring back memories lol.

Infantry training is always held at Fort Benning GA and is OSUT (One Station Unit Training) where basic and AIT are combined together. I was an 11B and went to basic in April 2001. Back then our basic and AIT or OSUT was only 13 weeks long. I know the Army extended the training to make it 22 weeks long which is a good thing, even though the Army is a lot a lot softer now a days while one is in basic.

OSUT encompasses basic training as well as the MOS training for infantrymen. People in the army who are not infantry do not go through OSUT, instead, they go through Basic training and then "AIT" (advanced individual training) where they learn there specific MOS

Infantry and MPs do One Station Unit Training (OSUT) which is 22 weeks and combines Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT). After that they head to their first duty assignment. All other MOSs do 9 weeks of BCT and then head to their AIT for further training which varies by location and duration depending on their MOS. Upon completion of AIT a Soldier will head to their first duty assignment.

It's where they have soldiers do Basic Combat Training(BCT) and Advanced Individual Training(AIT) in one singular cycle. 22 weeks is for the infantry. The MOS determines how long you stay & train, then there's different schools like Air Assault or Airborne

To answer your question about basic during COVID. They moved combatives to AIT(STO1) or further down the line for OSUT. But it looks like they removed it temporarily. I just finished BCT as a STO1, they make us wear masks for most of our time there

OSUT combines a recruits bootcamp and special school into one process. They call it one station unit training because for example an infantry soldier would go through bootcamp, then straight to their infantry school while at the same place, or “one station” they just don’t leave and go somewhere else.

Fort Benning is a combat arms training station, armor and infantry. Infantry training was originally 14 weeks, 12 weeks of basic training, 2 weeks of infantry training. They made it 22 weeks and called it OUST because you stay with the same training company. After the 12 weeks of basic you get 10 more weeks of a more in-depth training on what infantry is expected to do in times of war.

Army basic training lasts 10 weeks once soldiers get picked up from reception. From there, they send each soldier to their AIT os MOS school. I did my training at Ft. Benning, GA. and was sent to Ft. Lee, VA. The 22 week training is for the infantry soldiers. They go thru their 10 weeks of basic and then continue into their infantry training. After they are pinned with the blue cord, they are sent for further training like airborne or sent to their duty stations

Scouts, tankers, grunts and maybe redlegs attend OSUT, while the others do bct in various places, then go somewhere else for the specialty training related to their MOS. Unlike the Marine corps, every soldier is *not* a rifleman... getting them up to speed on the level of your average infantry company might take a few days. 🤣
